Ovulation

Ovulation- The process in a woman's body, during which a ripe egg cell leaves the ovaries in the oviduct - into the fallopian tube, where it can be fertilized.

If fertilization does not occur, the egg cell dies in the fallopian tube and comes out with menstrual flow.

The death of the egg occurs within twenty-four hours.

Physiology of ovulation
The first ovulation in the body occurs simultaneously with the first menstruation, that is, girls aged 11-15 years. The cessation of the release of the egg occurs at the age of 45-55 years, when the work of the ovaries stops completely and menopause begins.

Ovulation cycle time
Most women ovulate from 11 to 21 days of the monthly cycle, which is counted from the first days of menstruation. The cycle usually lasts from 28 to 32 days. But there are cycles with fewer and more days. It depends on the characteristics of the body.

Signs of ovulation
Every woman ovulation is accompanied by different signs. But the most common ones are:

  • pain in one of the ovaries (from which ovary an egg comes out, it causes pain);
  • lower abdominal pain (usually short);
  • lowering and hanging body temperature (basal temperature);
  • "Hormonal jumps";
  • change vaginal discharge (often their increase).

Methods for determining ovulation
1. Maintaining a basal temperature chart
When menstruation begins, the body temperature is 36.9 degrees. But a few days before ovulation, the basal temperature drops to 36.2 - 36.4 degrees, and then, on the first day of ovulation, rises to 37 degrees and lasts until the end of the cycle.
2. Maintaining an ovulation calendar
Provides scrupulous management of the menstruation calendar for the subsequent calculation of the range of the woman's ovulation cycle. It is often based on the incorrect assumption that ovulation begins exactly on the 14th day of the monthly cycle.
3. Medical ovulation tests
Special tests that can be bought at the pharmacy measure luteinizing hormone in the urine. An increase in this hormone indicates the onset of ovulation in the body. Testing must begin a few days before the expected ovulation - preferably from day 9 of the cycle. To determine ovulation need to spend at least 5 tests.
4. Ultrasonic determination of ovulation
With the help of several ultrasound procedures, it is also possible to determine the onset of ovulation. If a woman has a non-regular cycle, it is advisable to do an ultrasound for the first time on the 10th day of the menstrual cycle. With a regular cycle - 15-16 days.
