Name in history and literature. Lavrentiy Lurentyevich Blumentrost (1692-1755) - the first president of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences. In 1724, Peter I approved the project of the establishment of the Academy of Sciences, compiled by Blumentrost together with Schumacher. The meetings at the academy began in 1725, at the same time Blumentrost was appointed as its president, whose polite and friendly attitude to the academicians was praised by contemporaries. Under Peter II, living in Moscow, he noticeably lost interest in the academy. With the death of Peter II, Blumentrost lost its former meaning at court; in the demise of several persons of the royal family, in a relatively short time, the non-art of the chief physician was blamed.Blumentrost retained the trust of only the Meclenburg Duchess Catherine Ivanovna. Lavrenty Alekseevich Zagoskin (1808–1890) - Russian naval officer, explorer of Alaska. He graduated from the Naval Cadet Corps, served in St. Petersburg and Astrakhan. In 1839 he moved to the service in the Russian-American company. In 1842–1844 expedition leader in Alaska. The results of her published in the work "Pedestrian inventory of the part of the Russian possessions in America, produced in 1842, 1843 and 1844."
